Vive Controller vs Rift Controller Comparison (Diagram)

At Metanaut, we are passionate about VR design, especially interactions in virtual reality.

The first step in creating anything good is to understand as much as you can about the subject matter. In our case, we wanted to release our app for the HTC Vive and the Oculus Rift, which has very different VR controllers.

To help with this, we drew a diagram to understand how similar/different the VR controllers’ buttons are so that we can come up with input assignments that can be shared across different devices.

What we didn’t want to end up with is a great set of controls for one device, but having to strip that down and use a completely different set of controls for another device. Each device should have button assignments similar to each other.
